Introduction

This statement is made with reference to Part 6, Section 54, of the Modern Slavery Act 2015. Although Bar Live Events is not required to produce a slavery and human trafficking statement as its turnover is less than required by the Act we have  nonetheless chosen to voluntarily produce a statement in order to: a) provide assurance to our customers, b) to be open and transparent about our business and recruitment practices, policies and procedures in relation to modern slavery, and c) to take steps that are consistent and proportionate to the sector within which we work, and to our size and operational reach.

Anti-Slavery Statement

Modern slavery encompasses slavery, servitude, human trafficking and forced labour. Bar Live Events has a zero-tolerance approach to any form of modern slavery. We are committed to acting ethically and with integrity and transparency in all our business dealings and to putting effective systems and controls in place to safeguard against any form of modern slavery taking place within our business.

Our Business

Bar Live Events is a private limited company which provides bar services at major UK music events such as Glastonbury Festival, Download Festival, Cambridge Folk Festival and Liverpool Feis. The number of staff employed throughout the year changes considerably due to the nature of the festival cycle. Bar Live Events employs a small core team of permanent staff throughout the year, and during the busy summer months we recruit a range of workers who have the right to work in the UK and are paid at least the National Living Wage/Minimum Wage as appropriate.

Due Diligence

Our commitment to doing everything we can to combat modern slavery means we have an obligation to ensure legal compliance, uphold ethical standards, and combat human rights violations. The prevention, detection and reporting of modern slavery is the responsibility of all within the organisation. Bar Live Events undertakes to carry out due diligence when taking on new suppliers, whilst reviewing our existing suppliers. As a company, we support local communities where we can by recruiting within the areas where we operate which minimises the risk of human trafficking, and by carrying out Right to Work checks with all employees. We also ensure that all suppliers have the correct registration and VAT certification and correct identification before trading.

Communication and Awareness of our Policy

We are working to provide training to all employees who are deemed to be working in areas of the business that may be exposed to the risk of modern slavery and trafficking. Training will include:

  • How to identify the signs of slavery and human trafficking.
  • What initial steps should be taken if slavery or human trafficking is suspected.
  • What external help is available.

To ensure that all staff understand the risks of modern slavery and human trafficking in our supply chains and our business, this anti-slavery statement is included in the Bar Live staff handbook. All staff involved with engaging third parties on behalf of the business will communicate our zero- tolerance approach to prospective parties at the outset of any business relationship and reinforce our approach as appropriate thereafter.

Breaches of Our Policy

We may terminate our relationship with third parties working with us, or on our behalf, if they fail to comply with our policy.
